What You Can Expect from Our Services
We use approaches and specific interventions that will best support the client in evolving to their greatest potential. When the assessment process is complete, the treatment stage begins. Our clients continue to receive services for anywhere from six months to several years, depending on the nature and severity of the challenges they experience.
The more cohesively we all work together as a team (family, behaviorists, caregivers, teachers, and other support providers), the more effectively we can help the client move through whatever has been in the way of them realizing their potential. We stay in collaboration with the client, family, caregivers, and support staff to develop new strategies and tools that work best for the client and their family.
The Assessment Process
Our services typically start with a behavior assessment. This process takes approximately 15 hours, usually over the course of two months. About ten of these hours will be spent observing and interacting with the client and their parent(s), caregiver(s), teachers, etc. to get a complete picture of the client’s behavioral challenges and skills deficits. The remainder of time will be used to complete the assessment report and generate the Behavioral Support Plan.
The Behavioral Support Plan is the guide for caregivers in working with the client’s challenging behaviors and skill deficits. This document will be updated as needed to best support the client to achieve their goals and realize their potential.
Parent Coaching
We view the parents as the leaders of the family system. Changes the parents make are often more significant in impacting the child’s improved behavior than any changes the child makes. An essential cornerstone of our behavioral approach is to coach the parent(s) in using the most effective parenting strategies available to support the child’s overall growth.
We Are a Community
We foster a community of caregivers and clients by offering community events such as the Annual Bridging Worlds Barbecue, talent shows, social learning groups, and parent support and education groups, along with other activities such as acting, dancing, and creating art. We invite the collaboration of all clients and caregivers in developing resources to support our community.
